About this app
Stirling PDF is a web-based tool for working with PDF files. It covers more than 50 operations, including merging, splitting, converting, compressing, watermarking, and redacting, available through a browser interface or a REST API for automation. People who choose Stirling PDF over free online PDF sites give one recurring reason: not wanting to upload documents, sometimes sensitive ones, to a website they know nothing about. Running it on your own server keeps every file local instead. It also draws people who want one web tool that works the same way on any device, phone included, rather than juggling separate desktop apps per person or platform. A handful of features are gated behind a paid tier: unlimited users, OAuth2/OIDC and SAML single sign-on, and audit logs all require the Server or Enterprise tier. Everything else, including the REST API and API key authentication, is free to use self-hosted.
