About this app
Mattermost is a messaging and collaboration platform built for mission-critical work in government, defense, and critical infrastructure, deployable on-premises, air-gapped, or in a private cloud. It combines persistent team channels, threads, and direct messages with workflow automation through playbooks, built-in audio calls and screen sharing, and a bot framework for building custom integrations. People who move a team off a SaaS chat tool to Mattermost consistently cite two things. One is no longer being subject to a vendor's pricing or data-retention terms. The other is direct access to the underlying Postgres database, which several point to as valuable for building custom integrations a hosted platform doesn't allow. Several capabilities are gated behind a paid tier. SAML and LDAP authentication, plus custom branding, require the Professional tier. Removing the user cap, data export, audit logging, and high-availability clustering require Enterprise.
