The main timeline, grouping a library by the day each photo was taken.
Every album in the library, each with its cover, photo count, and date range.
An album opened up, with every photo in it and the controls for sharing it.
Photos plotted on a world map from the coordinates recorded with them.
Locations recognised from photo coordinates, each grouping the shots taken there.
The photos marked as favourites, kept in one view away from the rest of the library.
Shared albums and public links, which hand over one set of photos without opening up the library.
Administration of accounts, including per-user storage quotas.
The job queues that generate thumbnails, read metadata, and build search indexes.
Server-wide configuration, from storage templates and transcoding to machine learning.
Immich is a photo and video management app that automatically backs up your phone's camera roll in the background, then organises what comes in with facial recognition, AI-powered search, and a timeline view with a world map. Albums can be shared with a public link, so handing someone a set of photos doesn't mean giving them access to everything else. People who move their photo library to Immich consistently point to the same two things. Keeping control over images that a cloud provider might otherwise scan, categorise, or use to train AI models matters to them. So does no longer paying a recurring subscription for storage they may already own on a NAS or a spare drive. Every feature, including facial recognition and hardware-accelerated transcoding, is available self-hosted at no cost.
