Chatwoot is a self-hosted customer support platform that brings live chat, email, and social and messaging channels into one shared team inbox. Agents work from a single view with private notes, canned responses, and automation rules, and a website chat widget plus a REST API and webhooks let you wire support straight into your own product. People who choose Chatwoot most often cite two reasons. The first is wanting customer conversation data on infrastructure they control, which matters most to teams in regulated industries. The second is avoiding per-agent pricing that adds up as a team grows. Chatwoot follows through on the second point, with unlimited agents and no per-seat fee on the free self-hosted tier. Roles and permissions, the voice channel, and the Captain AI assistant require the Premium Support tier; SAML single sign-on, audit logs, and SLA policies require Enterprise. The shared inbox, automation rules, live chat widget, and REST API are free with self-hosting.
